Birthday Fun

I have neglected to mention that a couple family members are now one year older.

Justin turned 13 a couple weeks ago. He decided to have a birthday with 9 friends. I love to throw parties so that was no problem. But can I just say that I am the only girl in my family amist three brothers and I momentarliy forgot what 13 year old boys do at parties? Anyway, they had a good time. They played a fun game with water guns and colored water, similar to paintball but without the pain :) Then we grilled out, opened presents and they played frisbee. Of course there was cake and ice cream. They all had a good time.

Here is a picture of Justin with his favorite present!

Yes, it is a chocolate bunny. I think it was like two feet tall. He was very excited.

The other birthday was Rebecca. I think she had a good day, despite Brad's absense. Plus she got a really awsome purse to make us all jealous. Watch for it ladies!

I never thought this would happen!

Ok, so when I woke up on Sunday morning I did not expect this. Or any other day, really...

Lyndsey bound into my room (please remember that she is 15) with an announcement. Are you ready?? My teenager LOST A TOOTH!!! What is happening? I know that she still has baby teeth (four more to be exact), but I did not seriously expect her to loose them. However, she is very proud of this. She even took said tooth to church and school to show her friends (who were not as impressed as her - probably because they have not had such an occurance in 7 or 8 years and are totally over it). This is the story of Lyndsey's life as she did not get any teeth until she was 14 months old. Then the orthodontist told her when she was 13 that she had the mouth of a 7 year old (perhaps this should have been my clue that she would still lose teeth??)

I just think that this is particularly funny. I mean the child recently got her drivers license....shouldn't having all your adult teeth be a prerequisite?

My favorite response was from a friend. Lyndsey was asking what the tooth fairy would leave and my friend told her that the time limit on the tooth fairy had expired!!

Here is my proud teenager, with her tooth...

To be fair, I should also put the other highlight of her week. She worked for GpaT doing softball games and earned her first official paycheck. About this she is very excited and can not decide if she wants the money more, or to save the check! She did a pretty good job and recovered from her first night. Here are some pics of her and dad/her and gramps...

Daddy is Home

Well, Clint is home from his long week in Springfield. He and Lyndsey are umpireing (sp?) tonight. It is her first day on the job and she is really excited. I hope that all goes well.

We have not heard much on the twin front. For those of you who are unfamiliar, my brother Brian has 5 year old twins (amoung other children - none of which live with him). He is divorced from the twins mother and she is currently unable to care for them according to the State of Missouri. They have stayed with us off and on for the last couple of years and feel safe here. We are going through the process to become approved to house them. It is called KinCare (like Foster Care, but family). We are greatful to be able to offer this for them and hope that all goes well in the next few months.

This week has flown by. News of Lyndsey's first night on the job will be posted soon :)

Good Times

The news of the day is that Lyndsey is trying out for Color Guard at school. This is like dance, but they march with the band and twirl flags....
I am guessing that this requires coordination, and that is something my sweet daughter lacks, however I am being optimistic because she is excited. She is expecially excited because the fundraising activity for this is a summer car wash. She has never been involved with a car wash and thinks that this involves "selling her hot body" ??? Her father has clued her in that she will be attending this event in pants and long sleeves!

My only other news is that Talan is very angry with the fact that Uncle Clint is not here and has learned to use a water gun, only he thinks he is actually gunning me down... since when is it my fault that his guy pal is gone?

I must say that we have some very interesting Family Home Evenings. With our new expanded family anything goes. Today we had to make a run up north and look at a possible bed for the twins. With after school activities and such we decided to have FHE in the car on the way, then feed ducks at cemetary as our activity ending with a DQ treat. As we were coming back over the new bridge from North Topeka and just beginning our lesson on testimonies, we viewed what no one should ever have to see again. There was what appeared to be a teen age boy (17 or so) riding his bike around in circles. He was a little overweight and wearing sweat pants. When he turned the bike around and took off, we were greeted with the complete bare backside of this young man. His pants were down under his rear, and we received the full moon. Please remember that we are having FHE with a 15, 13, 7, and 1 year old. Not to metion two ladies in the front seat who are scared for life.

The moral of that story is, when you feel a cool breeze on your backside, there is probably a good reason for it!!

Life is Grand

The twins were permantely removed from thier mothers care by the lovely Missouri court. Until our family is approved in Kansas, they will remain in Missouri with Grandma Chrys. It is wonderful of her to volunteer this, but will be hard on all. We are all praying that the state workers will swiftly process the paperwork and they can be home safe again soon.

Justin had a neat birthday party on Saturday. Nine friends attended, they played capture the flag during a water gun fight with colored water (kind of a paint ball like tag game - low maintance), then we grilled hamburgers, played some ultimate frisbee, and finished with cake, ice cream and presents! The favorite gift was a 18 inch chocolate bunny!

Lyndsey attended a church dance "Modest Prom" in Olathe. She met some of her buddies from EFY and had a great time. But she was tired today.

Ashton and Becca built a cool robot made from recycling trash. He is awsome and reminds me a little of ET (except with KU buttons).

Talan spent most of his weekend in timeout for screaming or getting into the water cooler. And he had a record of faceplants into the cement - 3!

Tanya and Clint started cleaning out the garage :( and the good news is that we are still married! But it is only half done, so keep up your hopes :")

Welcome

Just a little introduction. We are the Kansas Bibler's. Clint, Tanya, Lyndsey & Justin. At this point we have willingly (and we are loving it) asked my sister in law, Rebecca and her boys, Ashton and Talan to stay with us while my brother is on active duty for the military. We also may be adding five year old twins to the mix as we care for another family member. I hope that you all enjoy seeing us grow and find out our Good News as it comes about.

This weeks news:
  • Talan can open doors, climb on the table, get himself a drink from the water cooler and feed the dogs - all by himself.
  • Zoe/Zachary learned that the juvinile court system is not always fair, and you have to be much older before you get to choose where you want to live.
  • Ashton learned what an opinion is (and hopefully we will learn to keep it to ourselves).
  • Justin turned 13, and he started texting friends! But he also learned that parents are not just here to pay the bills and he has obligations to fulfill. PS, he jumped 14.1 feet in the long jump.
  • Lyndsey passed her driving test!! Look out world, here she comes.
  • Rebecca learned that Talan can outrun her most of the time, and that she has to shop for 3T clothes for her 20 month old.
  • Tanya learned that it is possible to function on only 10 hours sleep in one week.
  • Clint, well he is just excited that everyone got where they needed to be and was fed this week.

I will work on getting pictures up soon. Thanks for being interested!
